PROGRAMS AVAILABLE
Pacific Reign offers multiple competitive pathways designed to meet athletes where they are and help them grow.
XCEL PROGRAM
The USA Gymnastics Xcel program was developed as an alternative competitive program offering individual flexibility to coaches and gymnasts. The goal of Xcel is to provide gymnasts of varying abilities and commitment levels the opportunity for a rewarding gymnastics experience. The program allows a wide choice in skills to meet requirements so selection may be based on an individual athlete’s strengths.
The focus of the Xcel program is sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, and fun. The emphasis in the Xcel program is on correct technique, form, and performance.
COMPULSORY PROGRAM
The Women’s Development Program (WDP) was created with the belief that all athletes, regardless of their potential, must have a solid foundation of basic skills in order to advance safely. The program allows the gymnast to advance at her own pace, competing in more than one level in a year, if she so chooses.
Compulsory levels are Level 3, 4 and 5 and they are progressive in nature, building upon the skills required at the previous level. Competitive opportunities are provided up to and including the USA Gymnastics State Championships.
OPTIONAL PROGRAM
The Women’s Development Program (WDP) was created with the belief that all athletes, regardless of their potential, must have a solid foundation of basic skills in order to advance safely. The program allows the gymnast to advance at her own pace, competing in more than one level in a year, if she so chooses.
Optional levels 6 and 7 have competitive opportunities up to and including the State Championships.
Additional competitive opportunities are provided for Levels 8-10, with the Level 10 competitive season culminating at the WDP National Championships, Level 9 at the Western Championships and Level 8 at the Regional Championships.
ELITE PROGRAM
The Elite Program is designed to provide competitive experiences for athletes aspiring to be on the U.S. National Team. The National Teams (Senior and Junior) are selected from the U.S. Championships each year. These athletes represent the United States in international competitions.
